At MKPS, we are proud to have exceptional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths departments that facilitate the growth and development of our students. Both boys and girls thrive in these subject areas from an early age, as STEM forms an integral part of our curriculum and incorporates into every aspect of a child’s day.

What is STEM in early years education

For younger children, STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) focuses on developing their curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills through hands-on experiences and playful learning activities. For instance, children can learn basic scientific concepts through exploring and experimenting with their environment. Using technology tools, pupils can create simple programs or designs, build structures with blocks to promote engineering skills, and develop early maths skills through counting, sorting, and measuring objects. STEM education in younger children is crucial as it provides them with a solid foundation and an essential connection to their future academic and career paths.

Our STEM Facilities at MKPS

Our new state-of-the-art Science Lab provides ample opportunities for our students to explore their inquisitiveness, experiment, and investigate, adding further depth and breadth to their studies. The technology suite serves as a base for research, complementing our teachers’ classroom-based teaching. Every classroom is equipped with computers for individual and small group work. Even our youngest students learn basic techniques, preparing them for future learning as they progress through school.

Engineering and design activities develop our students’ imagination, experimentation, technical thought processes, and creative interpretation skills, resulting in a wide range of 2D and 3D functional projects. This combination of natural ability and learned skills promotes creativity and technical know-how, which are important life skills.

Maths at MKPS

We take pride in our specialist Maths room, which is a large and well-equipped space designed to transport students into a mathematical frame of mind when they enter. It not only aids the learning of the subject but also immerses the students in it. Moreover, the room is packed with resources that support the technical side of maths, allowing for more opportunities for practical, hands-on learning that inspires every student. With high-quality reasoning skills, students can apply learned knowledge to real-life scenarios, which is key to their success.

To ensure that your child receives access to essential skills that will benefit their development, education, and ultimate success, it is important to incorporate STEM education into their learning journey.
