What is STEM in early years education
For younger children, STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) focuses on developing their curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills through hands-on experiences and playful learning activities. Using technology tools, pupils can create simple programs or designs, build structures with blocks to promote engineering skills, and develop early maths skills through counting, sorting, and measuring objects. Our STEM Facilities at MKPS
Our new state-of-the-art Science Lab provides ample opportunities for our students to explore their inquisitiveness, experiment, and investigate, adding further depth and breadth to their studies. The technology suite serves as a base for research, complementing our teachers’ classroom-based teaching. Every classroom is equipped with computers for individual and small group work. Even our youngest students learn basic techniques, preparing them for future learning as they progress through school.
Engineering and design activities develop our students’ imagination, experimentation, technical thought processes, and creative interpretation skills, resulting in a wide range of 2D and 3D functional projects. We take pride in our specialist Maths room, which is a large and well-equipped space designed to transport students into a mathematical frame of mind when they enter. It not only aids the learning of the subject but also immerses the students in it. Moreover, the room is packed with resources that support the technical side of maths, allowing for more opportunities for practical, hands-on learning that inspires every student.
